Native to, Brazil, Paraguay
From the Paraguay/Brazil border in Canindeyu, Paraguay between Ype Jhu and Capitan Bado, just north of Ianana (Type locality). Open grasslands and cerrados; flat terrain with deep sandy soils and with few, and sparcely distributed shrubs and trees, frequently associated with Allagoptera campestris.
