Identification:
Rhizomes short, prostrate; stipes 36-42 cm long, polished, brown hispid above, glabrous beneath. Fronds bipinnate to tripinnatifid, lanceolate, lowermost pinnae slightly shortened; pinnae 12-17 cm long, pinnules about 7 cm long, veins simple, margins serrulate; lower side coveed with small bullate scales on costae and smaller scales on costules, base of these scales 0.1-0.2 mm broad, the apex daek, stiff, pointed; scales on base of stipe 10-14 mm long, lanceolate, narrow, brown. Sori borne on veinlets about midway between costa and margin; exindusiate.

Native to, Japan, Taiwan

Occurs only in northern Taiwan and Iriomote Island, Japan. 240-600 m. elevation.
