Identification:
Stems relatively short, solitary or clustered. Leaf rachis covered with small brown to black scales on the lower surface; pinnae moderately pendulous, 2-3 cm wide, with 2 major veins on each side of the mid-rib.

General Information:
Low to high elevations in the Andes and Central America. Plants from W Ecuador and the Andes belong to this variety.
