Identification:
Stems solitary, 5-7.5 m tall and 4-7 cm diameter, with stilt roots to 70 cm long. Leaves 4-6, with a prominent green crownshaft; leaflets 22-29 per side, undevided, very long and narrow. Inflorescences with 18-20 flowering branches; fruits ellipsoid, 1.8-2 cm long, green with rusty-red, velvety hairs; endosperm homogenous.

Eastern Andean slopes in premontane or montane rain forest, at 1300-2000 m elevation.
