Identification:
A new species from a protected area in Madagascar. A slender, solitary tree; trunk 10 m tall, straight and unarmed; dbh 5 cm; crown with 6 expanded leaves and one emerging: crownshaft 50 cm long, pale green; petiole 15-20 cm long, green with reddish-brown scales, adaxial side flat and abaxial side round; From a protected area with controlled extraction of forest products, closed forest with undergrowth, steep slope near river and small foot path, 580 m elevation, Vatovelona forest, ca. 10 km south of the village Manakambahiny 1, buffer zone for the Zamamena strict nature reserve.
