Identification:
A monoecious palm from SE. Nicaragua to Panama, it is relatively slow growing. New leaves are very red and older leaves are variable from finely pinnate to having very broad leaflets. The stem suckers but not profusely.

In Nicaragua, Costa Rica (Atlantic and Pacific slopes) and Panama at 185(5-1000) m elevation in lowland tropical rainforest.
